Here at Bushy Park Sports Club, we have a table tennis club that competes in a local league and two social table tennis groups that meets to play just for fun.  The choice is yours...

 

Bushy Park Table Tennis Club

Bushy Park table tennis has quite a history... 

The club has had a table tennis section entering teams (under the name NPL) in the Thames Valley Table Tennis League (TVTTL) for many years, possibly since the League was established in 1936-37.

Geoff Hayes (the League's chairman back then) won the Restricted Singles (for players from Division 3 and below) in 1949.  

In 1952-53 NPL1 finished eighth (of 11) in Division 1 and NPL 2 fourth of 11 in Division 3.  There was also a Ladies Division in those days and NPL finished ninth of 10 in that one.  NPL 1 were relegated after the 1952-53 season but promoted back for the 1953-54 season, when their regular team comprised Hayes, Mitchell and Reynolds.  They finished tenth of 12 that season when NPL fielded four men’s teams and two ladies’ teams.

Today, the legacy continues... Currently there is one team in Division 3 of the League which finished in 5th place (out of 10) last season.

The League season runs from September to April and the team’s home night is Tuesday . Home matches are played in the spacious Tea Room at the club, while away matches are all within a ten mile radius of Hampton Court. League games are singles, best of 5 to 11 points, but our players also enjoy some doubles games (best of 3 to 21 points) in a handicap knock out competition.

The current annual subscription for the table tennis section is £55 but, to qualify for play in the League, all players must also pay a subscription (currently £18) to Table Tennis England (TTE).

Social Table Tennis - Choose your level.. 

We have 2 social table tennis groups each week. Thursdays is for beginners and improvers; Tuesdays for intermediate and advanced players.

Choose your level and come along!  We play singles and doubles and it is as competitive as you choose to be! 

The social table tennis sessions start at 7.30pm, are £7 per session and open to all Club members. Contact Ian (details below) for more information.
